In India, wellness is an attribute which has existed since ancient times. It derives from traditional health and medicinal practices such as Ayurveda and yoga. Rejuvenating bodies, minds and souls should be categorised as necessity with endlessly busy schedules and the scarcity of relaxation, the gift of time should be rewarded. Most of these ancient concepts predominantly focus on the individual’s most basic needs, prioritising health, nutrition and relaxation. With progression of time wellness has acquired a multi- dimensional definition, embracing the individuals peace and acceptance with themselves. India’s wellness industry has evolved at an admiringly fast pace from its nascent beginning. If you are one to endeavour upon encapsulating and spiritual experiences, then the multi-faceted culture of India is one to enthral yourself in.

We speak to Ayurvedic Expert Janesh Vaidya who was raised amongst generations of Ayurveda physicians. Vaidya is also the author of five books, having published his first book in 2010 in which he explains and simplifies the depth of Ayurveda for western readers. We asked Janesh for his advice for new-comers who aren’t familiar with Ayurveda: “First of all, Ayurveda is an entirely natural solution for health. It is not massages and herbal pills what most assume it to be. Ayurveda is a holistic concept that aids the levels of health, mentally, physically and spiritually across your life. Our experiences in life are equivalent to lessons which we learn and grow from. So Ayurveda is effectively a process which takes a person a life time to practice and grow from.” A simple expression which Vaidya lives by is “A good life means treating yourself good, physically and mentally.”
